1. Commercial & Incoterms Fundamentals

When quoting international buyers, never quote standard Ex-Works (EXW) without clarifying packaging and domestic terminal handling:

• FOB (Free on Board): You bear all costs until the cargo is loaded on the vessel at the export port.
• CIF (Cost, Insurance & Freight): You pay ocean/air freight and basic transit marine insurance to the destination port.
• DDP (Delivered Duty Paid): High margin potential, but requires handling destination customs clearance and local import tariffs.

2. Seaworthy Packaging & Anti-Corrosion Protocols

Ocean container transit involves severe humidity and temperature swings that can oxidize unprotected metal surfaces within 72 hours:

• VCI (Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor) Packaging: Every machined steel component must be washed, dried, oiled, and sealed in VCI plastic bags.
• Desiccant Pouches: Include certified silica gel bags inside sealed moisture-barrier foil packaging.
• ISPM-15 Heat-Treated Wooden Pallets: International customs will reject and fumigate shipments packed on untreated timber.
